Cornelius Hagenmeier currently serves as Head of Internationalisation at the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences and is also a Research Fellow of the University of the Free State. Hagenmeier held the position of Director for the Office of International Affairs at the University of the Free State from 2017 until July 2023, when he joined the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences.
Hagenmeier is an international education administrator and legal academic, rooted in the German and South African jurisdictions. He was born in Darmstadt, Germany on 15 June 1971. He obtained his qualification to be appointable as a judge in Germany (assessor juris) and holds South African LLB (UNISA) and LLM degrees (UCT). He is a non-practising attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
He serves in a voluntary capacity on the Board of the African Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation (AfriC). From 2015 to 2018, he was treasurer and member of the Executive Committee of the International Education Association of South Africa (IEASA). In addition to his managerial, administrative, and legal skills, he has extensive expertise in international higher-education partnerships and internationalisation strategy development. He has taught various short learning programmes in this field and facilitated relevant workshops.

Hagenmeier ist Experte in der Internationalisierung des Hochschulwesens und Rechtswissenschaftler mit Wurzeln in der deutschen und südafrikanischen Gerichtsbarkeit. Er wurde am 15. Juni 1971 in Darmstadt, Deutschland, geboren. Er erwarb die Befähigung zum Richteramt in Deutschland (Assessor juris),und hat einen südafrikanischen LLB- (UNISA) und LLM-Abschluss (UCT). Er ein nicht praktizierender Anwalt des High Court of South Africa.
Er ist ehrenamtlich im Vorstand des African Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation (AfriC) tätig. Von 2015 bis 2018 war er Schatzmeister und Mitglied des Exekutivausschusses der International Education Association of South Africa (IEASA). Neben seinen Management-, Verwaltungs- und Rechtskenntnissen verfügt er über umfassendes Fachwissen über internationale Hochschulpartnerschaften und die Entwicklung von Internationalisierungsstrategien. Er hat Kurzlehrgänge in diesen Bereichen geleitet und einschlägige Workshops geleitet.
