Abstract
- This paper presents a procedural generation system for 3D models of accessible apartments intended for use in virtual commissioning and extended reality (XR) applications. Developed using Blender's Geometry Nodes, the system enables automated, parameterized, and scalable creation of apartment layouts with basic furnishing of functional rooms. The generated models are optimized for integration into real-time environments and tested with the Unity Engine. A comprehensive evaluation, based on technical criteria and compliance with the German DIN 18040–2 standard for accessible housing, demonstrates that many accessibility features can be implemented through procedural rules already. The developed system is tested by generating 6,000 procedural models of different layout sizes. Among those generations, about 28 % fulfill all evaluated criteria, while most models meet the majority of criteria with slight flaws.
